OFFICE / EVENTS ADMINISTRATOR: BLOEMFONTEIN The Pedal Power Association is excited to announce that we are opening an office in Bloemfontein, and we are looking for an Office and Events Administrator to become our local representative.

Founded in 1976, the PPA is a Public Benefit Organization committed to promote cycling and the interests of cyclists. Our influence and interest spans across recreational road and off-road cycling events and initiatives; supporting cycling community projects; lobbying for the interests of cyclists’ safety and rights; assisting communities to develop through cycling; and encouraging our youth to cycle. The PPA is the largest recreational cycling organization in South Africa. This new position will be tasked with setting up and running the new PPA office in Bloemfontein, assisting existing members living in the Free State as well as cyclists keen to join the Association with general PPA membership admin, as well as rolling out the PPA model by assisting local charities, schools and clubs to put on cycling events to raise funds for charity and/or local cycling initiatives.

Amongst others, you will be building relationships with local role players and sponsors, organize local safe cycling initiatives and encourage cycling development amongst the youth.

Training regarding the PPA and events will be given in Cape Town.

Preference will be given to someone with experience in sports events management and excellent knowledge of cycling and the cycling industry. With events taking place on weekends, some weekend work will definitely be required, for which time off will be given in lieu during the week.

The successful candidate will be someone who is a team player while being able to work without supervision, used to multi-tasking, able to work to deadlines, and comfortable in communicating to and dealing with people. With there being a lot of paperwork related to putting on events as well as office administration, a fine eye for attention to detail is important, as is excellent proficiency in the MS Office suite.

Own transport and a driver’s license is a must.

Your duties will include:

  • Various administrative tasks required around setting up and

    running the local office;

  • Assisting members as needed;
  • Various tasks required around the successful organizing and

    presentation of funrides;

  • Representing PPA at events when needed;
  • Liaising with and assisting organizers to put on successful

    events;

  • Assisting with the organizing of the PPA Mangaung Cycle Tour;
  • All admin related to traffic and municipal events applications;
  • Coordinating the local events calendar;
  • Overseeing PPA’s local funride equipment and equipment trailer

    Salary will be in line with experience. The position will be available from

    1 July 2015 or soonest thereafter.
